As an 8-year-old child, I had my heart crushed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1960 World Series. They beat my beloved N.Y. Yankees in the 7th game with an unlikely homerun by Bill Mazerowski. "It's not fair!" I exclaimed. "In every game the Yankees won, they outscored the Pirates by a huge number of runs. The Pirates won their games by only a run or two." It didn't feel fair to me, but the rules are that the victor is determined by the number of games won, not by the total number of runs scored. I suspect that Barry Silk and team feel the same way as I did. Jamie Lubin, Helene Allen & Mike Weston win this quiz by the narrowest of margins! They achieved a perfect score on the 25 charted songs in the quiz. Right behind them at 499, and having identified both tie-breakers is the team of Barry Silk, Scooter Magruder, & Joe Haertel. The teams of Jyrki Ilva & Pekka Halonen, Iris Shapiro & the Gypsy's Caravan, and Rick & Kathy Schubert did excellent work, exceeding 400 points on this difficult quiz. Kudos to Anne & Dennis Hallerman, Sanford Stein, the Oldtunes team, and Wendy Vickers for their greater-than-300-points performance. We think it's really great that despite the increasing difficulty of GOLQs, the level of participation has been high. Over the last six GOLQs, an average of 30 entries have been submitted per quiz. Thank you all for playing! Jamie Lubin has posted GOLQ75 long, long ago. (And you thought this was a hard quiz.) Not living in the U.S. may have diminished one's chances of getting these themes. 1. John Adams Benjamin Harrison Lyndon Johnson John Quincy Adams William Henry Harrison Zachary Taylor James Buchanan Andrew Jackson George Washington Jimmy Carter Andrew Johnson Woodrow Wilson Gerald Ford 2. Last names of 16 players in the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame are mentioned in the artists, titles, and lyrics of songs: 01, 06, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, and T2.
