From: Rich Ardini <rea01803@mediaone.net>

RESULTS and ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #179 (GOLQ179)

There was a three-way tie between the VILLAGE IDIOTS, the GYPSY's CARAVAN
and The DELPHI TRIVIA CLUB. The team of BARRY SILK, SCOOTER MAGRUDER and
JENNY McCAW finished fourth and were the only team to identify #24.

Sorry for the unintended difficulty level. The average score did make it
over the 300 mark, at 301. Good luck in future quizzes.

Marc Dashevsky and my RRiB teammate, Bob Bluestein, will be posting GOLQ180
shortly.

Tie-breakers:
------------

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ179/GOLQ179-T1.mp3
#T1) Love: "The Red Telephone" (1968) [-] {-}

    The closing track to side one of "Forever Changes". This well-received
    album was, like another album around that time "Astral Weeks" by Van
    Morrison, more critically acclaimed than commercially popular. Then
    again, tracks that began with lines like "the snot has caked against
    my pants" were more destined for FM play. The last few years have seen
    enough reissues of this album in different forms to make both the Beach
    Boys and The Who jealous. Bryan Maclean died unexpectedly two years ago
    around Christmas and Arthur Lee has had recent legal problems.

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ179/GOLQ179-T2.mp3
#T2) Terry Reid: "Highway 61 Revisited/Friends/Highway 61 Revisited"
                 (1969) [-] {-}

    Terry has a place in music trivia history as the person first offered
    the job of lead singer for Led Zeppelin. He declined, but suggested
    Robert Plant. Terry's first two albums featured an innovative version
    of "Bang, Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" plus a couple of tracks that
    combined a well-known song with his own composition as in this case.
    He faded into obscurity after that and his later releases went straight
    to the cut-out bin.
