RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #186 (GOLQ186)

Congratulations to the VILLAGE IDIOTS and the non-nickname ten-person
team of LORI BAILEY, DAVE BAILEY, LARRY FERGUSON, DAN RECTOR, JIM FULLER,
TOM ADAMS, SEAN ANGLUM, RICK CRANE, JUDY JULIAN and ED TOUTANT. They
both achieved perfect scores to tie for first. The other teams in the
first tier were the team of BARRY SILK, SCOOTER MAGRUDER and JENNY McCAW,
the GYPSY'S CARAVAN, the DELPHI TRIVIA CLUB, and the COASTERS.

Song recognition was more evenly distributed on this quiz. The average
score was a relatively low 309, but the least recognized song was still
identified by about a third of the teams.

Barry Silk has already posted GOLQ 187. Thanks to all who entered.

#01) Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass: "Taste Of Honey" (1965) [7] {-}

    #01 was originally "The Lonely Bull". It was quickly replaced, because
    only The Tijuana Brass are listed as artists for it, before most teams
    had downloaded the files. Credit was given for either answer.

#T2) Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra: "The Last Time" (1966) [-] {-}

    The Verve: "Bittersweet Symphony" was a mega-hit in the summer of 1997.
    It came about when Richard Ashcroft first heard the symphonic version of
    "The Last Time" that had been released in the 60s by something called the
    Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra (he was an early producer of the Stones)
    and felt it could be turned into something outrageous. So he looped four
    bars from the track and went to work. However, as it was becoming an
    international hit, Allen Klein, the lawyer for the label that put out
    the original version, ABKCO, sued over the sampling that was done.
    All the principals from the 60s version were sent copies. Jagger and
    Richard chose not to get involved. Oldham was truly impressed by the
    song, but left it in the hands of the lawyers (he would also sue two
    years later). The eventual result was a 50-50 royalty split.
    Unfortunately for the Verve, that meant 50% for Jagger and 50% for
    Richard. They were also added to the publishing credits. Ashcroft
    called it the best song the Stones have done in twenty years. More
    complete descriptions of the above events can be found on various Verve
    and Rolling Stone websites. The above was paraphrased from one of them.
    JL: Verve's version was on the soundtrack for "Cruel Intentions"
    GT: The last track from the album, "The Rolling Stones Songbook".
