From: Rick Schubert <golq@san.rr.com>

RESULTS AND ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #195

Congratulations to the winning team of Barry Silk, Jenny McCaw, and
Scooter Magruder and to the teams The Village Idiots and
Really Rockin' In Boston. All three teams identified 24 of the 25
charted songs (each missing a different song), with the latter teams
lagging behind by only a few points.

This quiz was made easy with the primary intention of trying to
attract more entrants. Although GOLQ195 attracted only one team
more than did GOLQ194, most recent quizzes had 18-22 entrants.
By virtue of the increase over GOLQ194, this quiz had the most entrants
since GOLQ174. I had been hoping to attract at least 30 teams, however.
There were comments from several teams who enjoyed being able to identify
more songs than usual.

Twenty of the songs on this quiz were identified by at least 80% of the teams,
five songs were identified by 3-5 teams, and the two tie-breakers weren't
identified by anyone. I had optimistically expected that each of the tie-
breakers might be identified by at least 1 team.

The average score on this quiz was 396.1, and the median was 400.

GOLQ196 may not be posted until June.

Thanks to all who entered!

-- Rick Schubert & Norm Katuna (and his 45 collection)

#16) Presley, Elvis, with the Jordanaires: "Where Do You Come From" (1962) [99] {-}
[flip of "Return to Sender"; both from movie and album "Girls! Girls! Girls!"
I was surprised that as many as 4 teams managed to identify this song, and at
least some of them actually knew the song (as opposed to having to dig
through their collections or other sources to identify it). Even more
surprising to me was that 12 other teams identified Elvis as the artist, 10
of which guessed the title to be "Can't Help Falling In Love." When Norm
sent me the clip for this song, it never occurred to me that it was Elvis,
and I didn't notice the similarity to "Can't Help Falling In Love" until
listening to it after so many teams gave this as an answer. There were also 3
votes for the Platters.]

Barry noted a strong similarity to "He Don't Really Love You" by the Delfonics,
which charted at 92 in 1968, although (according to Jyrki) it was recorded in
Philadelphia in 1966.
This song was identified by 3 teams. Two teams voted for "That's The Way With Love"

a different letter of the alphabet.]

This chart ranks the songs/artists from most recognized to least recognized.
The 2nd number on the line denotes the average number of points scored on that
song (total points divided by number of entrants, to 2 decimal places). For
comparison purposes, tie-breakers are scored here on the usual 20-point scale
(as if it really matters since no one identified either one).
