RESULTS and ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #206 (GOLQ206)

Congratulations to Really Rockin' In Boston, who placed first in the quiz
with an impressive score of 480. The team of Randy Price & Peter Morley
edged out The Coasters for second place by identifying one of the tiebreakers.
Each scored 440 on the quiz. Mike Weaver also broke the 400 barrier. Some
difficult song clips kept the median score to 340. Despite the tough ones,
entrants from both the high, and low scoring end of the spectrum commented
that they enjoyed the quiz.

Bob Bluestein and Marc Dashevsky will be posting GOLQ207 next week.

Thanks to everyone who entered.

Mick

GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #206 ANSWERS:

Answers are in the form:

    #number)   Artist:  "Title"  (year)  [peak Pop]  {peak R&B}

where:
    "peak Pop" = Peak position achieved on the weekly Billboard Pop chart
    "peak R&B" = Peak position on the weekly Billboard Rhythm & Blues chart

Note: Recordings charting late 1963 and early 1965 show a "peak R&B"
of {n/c}, meaning "no chart", as Billboard did not publish an R&B chart
from November 30, 1963 through January 23, 1965.

#01) Shirley Bassey: Goldfinger  (1965) [8] {-}

     John Barry and His Orchestra also fits alphabetically and gets credit.

#04) Gene Chandler: Soul Hootenanny pt.1  (1964) [92] {n/c}

     Unique rendition of "Big Boss Man". In retrospect this clip probably
     constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. RRIB kept this from being
     an unintended stumper.

#13) Jay & The Americans: When You Dance (1969) [70] {-}

     No one recognized the wail at the beginning of the clip belongs to
     Jay Black. The one song I anticipated might just fool everyone.

#20) Wilson Pickett: I Found A Love - Part 1 (1967) [32] {6}

     Pickett's "solo" version actually charted higher than the original
     Falcon's hit.

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ206/GOLQ206-21.mp3
#21) Elvis Presley with The Jordanaires: Hard Headed Woman (1958) [1] {2}

     I probably made this clip too hard.

#T1) Country Joe And The Fish: The Masked Marauder (1967)

     Flip side of "Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine." Also appeared
     on the album ELECTRIC MUSIC FOR THE MIND AND BODY.

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ206/GOLQ206-T2.mp3
#T2) Mary Wells: Oh Little Boy (What Did You Do To Me) (1964)

     No one recognized the "B" side of the number one hit "My Guy."
     This is a better song, in my opinion.

This chart ranks the songs/artists from most to least recognized. The second
number on the line denotes the average number of points scored on that song
(total points divided by number of entrants, to 1 decimal place). For
comparison purposes, tie-breakers are scored here on the usual 20-point scale.
