Tied for third place are The Coasters, Really Rockin' In Boston, and Will McCorry, who receives the GOLQ227 Individual Achievement Award. This has been a high-scoring quiz with the mean score being 407.45 and the median 488.5. Both Will McCorry and Rick Schubert noticed that, except for the tie-breakers, the songs I selected for the quiz have all been used in GOLQ01-GOLQ25 and not since. The tie-breakers have no intended connection to earlier quizzes. I would have picked fewer quizzes to draw from, but I needed to ensure that there were enough candidates whose recordings I had access to. Rick, the founder of the GOLQs, points out that these songs have not been used on a GOLQ for between 13.6 years and 15.2 years: GOLQ01 was posted on September 5, 1990 and GOLQ25 was posted on April 16, 1992. I'd like to give credit to those entrants to this quiz that were active back in that era. Here is a list of those people, along with the GOLQ in which their names were first mentioned in the results. (Please accept my apologies if I have omitted anyone.) GOLQ01: Rick Schubert GOLQ04: Howard Teitelbaum GOLQ05: Dave Cochran GOLQ07: Kathy Schubert GOLQ10: Bonnie Teitelbaum GOLQ21: Genasys Team My thanks go to those and to all the others who have participated. Regina Litman will be posting GOLQ228 later this week. -- Marc Dashevsky <golq227@golq.org> Replace all occurrences of "&" in all e-mail addresses with "@". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tie Breaker Scoring Key + after numeric score below indicates a tie-breaker answered correctly. - indicates partial credit. x indicates a totally incorrect guess. . indicates no guess. # on Pos Score ID Name and E-mail address Team Age(s) ---+-----+--+------------------------------------------------------+---+------- T01 500++ DT Delphi Trivia Club <billp49&pd.jaring.my> 7 35-50 Radar,Beth,Joan,HQR,Logot,Brenda T01 500++ RP Randy Price & Peter Morley <randypny&aol.com> 2 36-53 <pmorley&nyc.rr.com> T03 500.. She was staying in a hotel in the French Quarter and having a drink in the bar when she bumped elbows with the guy next to her. She looked at the bartender and asked, "Is that him?" The bartender nodded, and she and her crew proceeded to express their appre- ciation to "Mr. Domino," who entertained them with songs--some classic and one he just made up. It turns out that Fats is living in the French Quarter after having his home washed out of the Ninth Ward (poor part of town), but he has been rediscovered as a symbol for New Orleans' recovery.
