Date: 1 Nov 2007 20:47:46 -0000 Message-ID: <20071101204746.26573.qmail@nezumi.pair.com> From: Marc Dashevsky <golq249@golq.org> Subject: CORRECTION(S) to RESULTS and ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz 249 (GOLQ249) RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #249 (GOLQ249) Congratulations to the teams of Randy Price/Peter Morley and the Village Idiots who each achieved perfect scores on a difficult quiz. Right on their tails is Really Rockin' In Boston, missing only #T2, and in fourth place is Across the Boarder, who got neither tie-breaker. Also with excellent scores are Delphi Trivia Club, Gypsy's Caravan and the Coasters. The Gypsy's Caravan detected a serious problem with the lyrics I gave for #20. The lyrics are from the song "Funny Girl" that was on the movie soundtrack LP, a different song from that released on the 45-rpm record in 1964, which is from the Broadway musical. I did not read Whitburn closely enough to see that Streisand recorded two different songs of the same name, so I didn't bother to check that the mp3 I had was the proper song. I apologize for my careless- ness. I gave all entrants full credit for #20. You may hear both songs at http://marcdashevsky.com/ng/ . In the preface to the quiz, I wrote: Every one of the 27 songs connects to at least one of the two major themes running through the quiz. These two themes themselves are related and point to something that we would all benefit from having more of in our lives. The two themes in this quiz are novelty songs (#03, #05, #07, #14, #15, #22, #T1 and #T2) and songs or artists containing words relating to humor, in particular funny/laugh/chuckle and clown/jester/joker. Congratulations to Across the Boarder, Coasters, Delphi Trivia Club, EJ's & Co., Gypsy's Caravan, Virve Harkonen, Will McCorry, NAVAIRheads, Team Teitelbaum, Village Idiots, Vito and the Salutations for identifying the theme. Thank you all for entering. Regina Litman will be posting GOLQ250 very soon. -- Marc Dashevsky <golq249@golq.org> Replace all occurrences of "&" in all e-mail addresses with "@". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tie Breaker Scoring Key + after numeric score below indicates a tie-breaker answered correctly. - indicates partial credit. x indicates a totally incorrect guess. . indicates no guess. # on Pos Score ID Name and E-mail address Team Age(s) ---+-----+--+------------------------------------------------------+--+-------- 01 500++ RP Randy Price <randypny&aol.com,pmorley&nyc.rr.com> 2 38,55 & Peter Morley 01 500++ VI The Village Idiots <Clete6&aol.com> 5 <57 Andrew, Andy, Roxie, Doug, Ping 03 500+.
