Congratulations to Randy Price & Peter Morley, and the Gypsy's Caravan, each with a perfect 500++ score. The EJ's, Village Idiots, Delphi Trivia Club, Ron Anderson, and Will McCorry also identified all 25, but minor gliches on the tie breakers kept them from obtaining perfect scores. Close behind were the Gena Team and Really Rockin' in Boston, having missed just one or two. Median score was 490, and mean was 407. Thanks to all who entered! Thought of going back But all I'd see are strangers' faces And all the scars that love erases But as my mind walks through those places I'm wondering what's come of them #07) Diamond, Neil: "Brooklyn Roads" (1968) [58] {-} I'm on my way to her house and I'm plumb out of breath When I see her tonight, I'm gonna squeeze her to death #08) Everly Brothers, The: "Claudette" (1958) [30] {-} I'm looking for a girl Who'll be waiting when I come home She's gonna meet me with a kiss She's gonna be one pretty miss #09) Fabian: "Hound Dog Man" (1959) [9] {-} Mmm, you look so fine (come out) Move it nice and easy Girl, you make me lose my mind #10) 4 Seasons, The: "Sherry" (1962) [1] {1} And when she passes Each one she passes goes, "Aah" #11) Getz/Gilberto: "The Girl From Ipanema" (1964) [5] {n/c} This time we almost made our poem rhyme This time we almost made that long, long climb #12) Harris, Richard: "Didn't We" (1969) [63] {-} Second verse Same as the first #13) Herman's Hermits: "I'm Henry The VIII, I Am" (1965) [1] {-} How could I know How could I tell How could I know what was in What was in her little little heart #14) Impalas: "Oh, What A Fool" (1959) [86] {-} And then with a voice as kind as could be He cut him down like a big oak tree #15) Kingston Trio, The: "Reverend Mr. Black" (1963) [8] {15} Yodel-deedle-ay-ee, you ought to see my car #16) Miller, Roger: "Kansas City Star" (1965) [31] {-} It's there I'm gonna make my bed Easy now #17) New Christy Minstrels, The: "Green, Green" (1963) [14] {-} Though we go on our separate ways Still the memory stays for always My heart says #18) Newton, Wayne and the Newton Brothers: "Danke Schoen" (1963) [13] {1} I'll tie back my hair Men's clothing I'll put on I'll pass as your comrade As we march along #19) Peter, Paul & Mary: "The Cruel War" (1966) [52] {-} Your kind of love is a treasure I hold It's so much greater than silver or gold #20) Presley, Elvis with the Jordanaires: "Fame and Fortune" (1960) [17] {-} You'll know her if you see her Blue eyes and a ponytail #21) Roe, Tommy: "Sheila" (1962) [1] {6} My riches can't buy everything I want to hear the children sing #22) Rolling Stones: "As Tears Go By" (1965/66) [6] {-} Doo Ron De Ronde Ronde Boppa Doo Ron #23) Shirelles, The: "I Met Him On A Sunday (Ronde-Ronde)" (1958) [49] {-} And the elephants are kindly but they're dumb #24) Simon & Garfunkel: "At The Zoo" (1967) [16] {-} Through a meadow land Toward a closing door A door marked, "Nevermore" That wasn't there before #25) Williams, Andy: "Days Of Wine And Roses" (1963) [26] {-} ------------ Tie-Breakers ------------ I don't know why I love you like I do Nobody in the world can get along with you You got the ways of the devil sleeping in a lion's den I came home last night, you wouldn't even let me in #T1) Dylan, Bob: "You're No Good" (1962) [-] {-} From his first album. Written by Jesse Fuller, of "San Francisco Bay Blues" fame. I think the correct lyrics are actually "ways of A devil," vice "THE devil" but I didn't catch the error until after the quiz was released, but I doubt if it was a discriminator. If any of you who missed this one think that you would have gotten the correct answer if the word "a" was in there instead of "the," let me know and I'll make the adjustment. A squirmin' dog who's just had her day #T2) Shannon, Del: "Under My Thumb" (1966) [-] {-} Del's version was released on Liberty 55904. The original Rolling Stones version, written by them, was not eligible because a Stones song was already used in the main part of the quiz. Also, the Stones say, "THE squirmin' dog." That distinction being made, we also gave credit to entrants who responded with "The Who," a version that also qualifies. _____________________________________________________________________________ The following table ranks the songs from most recognized to least recognized.
