RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #261 (GOLQ261)

Congratulations to Mike Weaver and THE GYPSY'S CARAVAN for correctly indenti-
fying all 27 songs on the quiz. Perfect 500 scores were also registered by
Will McCorry, Really Rockin' In Boston, The Coasters, and The Village Idiots.

The VI's mentioned finding songs on Youtube. The proliferation of quiz
eligible songs there has made playing a bit easier, particularly for sound
clip versions, in my opinion.

The median score was 435. The mean was 398.

Thanks to everyone who entered.

Howard Teitelbaum will be posting GOLQ 262 forthwith.

Maybe it's the best thing
Maybe it's the best thing for you

I see her face, and I hear a strange melody
#14) Steve Lawrence: "My Claire De Lune" (1961) [68] {-}

     Don Costa and His Orchestra. EJ's & Co. appreciated

     helped people ID this one.

There's a service I can render
Tell the one who loves you only
I can be so warm and tender
#15) Chris Montez: "Call Me" (1966) [22] {-}

#16) Rick Nelson: "Everlovin'" (1961) [16] {1}

We been busy
#20) Peggy Scott & Jo Jo Benson: "Pickin' Wild Mountain Berries"

#24) Vik Venus (Alias: Your Main Moon Man): "Moonflight" (1969) [38] {-}

     Howard Teitelbaum mentions he grew up listening to
     Jack Spector. This Lemon Pipers clip managed to
     confound more than a few folks.

You'd better mind yourself
You'd better find yourself
Go out and find

I've caused you pain, yeah
But if you should return to me
I'll never hurt you again
#T1) The Del Vikings: "Bring Back Your Heart" (1961) (101) {-}

     Most guesses were for The Drifters. It definitely has that
     Drifters sound to it.

Why do birds in the trees sing the sweetest melody
And what makes your heart start to fly
#T2) Frankie Lymon and The Teenagers: "Who Can Explain?" (1956) [-] {7}

     GYPSY'S CARAVAN mentions it was the flip side to
     "I Promise To Remember". It's one of those songs
     Whitburn lists even though it never hit the pop charts.

number on the line denotes the average number of points scored on that song
(total points divided by number of entrants, to 1 decimal place). For
