RESULTS and ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #277 (GOLQ277)
Congratulations to the six teams who tied for first place with perfect scores,
including the two tie breakers, and all 28 bonus points. Obviously, our
attempt to further discriminate among the winners by adding additional bonus
points was not enough to change the usual outcome. On one hand, we were
concerned we might be unfairly penalizing otherwise super-star oldies experts
who have no knowledge of golf/Tiger Woods, but that didn't seem to affect most
folks, since we still had a median score of 498 and a mean (excluding bonus
points) of 435. Special recognition goes to John Fox, who submitted his entry
almost immediately with a comment that, "This was still too easy. I'm almost
as much a golf nut as I am a R&R nut." The "I Hated To Dock You, But Alex
Trebek Wouldn't Give You Credit, Either" award goes to the EJ's and Delphi
Trivia Club, each of whom identified all the bonus key words, but were kept
from 500++ scores, and therefore bonus eligibility, by an apparent minor care-
less error. Team Teitlebaum identified 24 of the key words. Although they
did not qualify for the bonus points, Howard commented that solving the theme
helped him identify four or five songs he would have otherwise missed. We hope
the theme and bonus points helped to add a dimension of fun to the quiz, and
we thank you all for playing.

Tom note:
Interesting that certain songs; e.g., "Drive In Show," "Little Boxes,"
"Drive My Car," and "Fixing A Hole," that peaked very low or did not chart
on Billboard were, nonetheless, more easily identified than some of the top
10 and number one hits; e.g., "Love Letters In The Sand," and "All American
Boy." Is perhaps a tribute to the folk movement of the '60's and the overall
success of the Beatles. Was surprised Dionne Warwick came out on top, but
not surprised that everyone recognized Dylan's Blowin' In The Wind by PP&M.
