After four albums, he worked his way up to be on the cover of the Rolling Stone, then abruptly disbanded the group. This is perhaps his most recognizable song. Thomas Dolby also did an interesting version of this. Listeners should check YouTube for the Thomas Dolby - I Scare Myself (Edit) (2009 Digital Remaster). #T2) Mickey Newbury: "Wrote A Song A Song/Angeline" (1969) [-] {-} QM: From his "Looks Like Rain" album (a QM personal favorite), the first of three albums that were considered revolutionary and influential to the 'outlaw cowboy' movement and for their production recording techniques. His best known work may be "An American Trilogy" which would become an Elvis concert staple. San Francisco Mabel Joy from this album became his most honored song, but this cut may capture his recording techniques a little better. As a songwriter, Mickey simultaneously had four Top 10 songs on four different charts in the late 60s, including Just Dropped In... by the First Edition. His work was recently re-mastered and added to iTunes. His Wikipedia page is an excellent source for further information. ============================================================================= This chart ranks the songs/artists from most to least recognized.
