RESULTS and ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #303 (GOLQ303)

As indicated when we posted the quiz, this was a relatively easy one, as
evidenced by nine of the 14 teams identifying all 25 of the songs in the main
part of the quiz, and eight of those nine achieving perfect scores by also
identifying both tie-breakers.

Thanks to all of the entering teams for participating, though we again missed
seeing entries from some of the regulars.

Howard Teitelbaum has already posted GOLQ304.

GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #303 ANSWERS:

Answers are in the form:
#number) Artist: Title (year[s]) [peak position on Pop chart] {peak R&B}

[-] = did not make pop chart
{-} = did not make R&B chart
{n/c} = no Billboard R&B chart published during this recording's period
of peak popularity
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
#01) Animals, The: "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" (1965) [15] {-}

Deep in December
Our hearts should remember
And follow, follow, follow
#02) Brothers Four, The: "Try To Remember" (1965) [91] {-}

  Tom note: From the long-running off-broadway play, "The Fantastiks." One of
  my favorite songs. This is not my favorite rendition, but the only one that
  charted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rAjcOv1JaY&feature=related

Don't give me your love for a moment or an hour
Love me always as you've loved me from the start
#03) Charles, Ray, Singers: "Love Me With All Your Heart
                                     (Cuando Calienta El Sol)" (1964) [3] {-}

The quiet walks
The noisy fun
The ballroom prize

'bout your plans to make me blue
#05) Gaye, Marvin: "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" (1968/69) [1] {1}

#06) Holden, Ron, with The Thunderbirds: "Love You So" (1960) [7] {11}

Just one kiss from your sweet lips
Will tell me that your love is real
And I can feel that it's true
#07) James, Sonny: "Young Love" (1956/57) [1] {3}

  Tom note: Tab Hunter is also correct. Sonny James was my intended artist,
  but I didn't realize, until the entries started coming in, that both
  artists fit alphabetically. Otherwise, I would have selected a different
  song for #06 to avoid the discrepancy.

Back of my neck getting dirt and gritty
#08) Lovin' Spoonful, The: "Summer In the City" (1966) [1] {-}

You are the one love I am living for
Had we just begun, love, could I love you more

Still in her teens
Just as sweet as she can be-ee-ee
#11) Nelson, Ricky: "Be-Bop Baby" (1957) [3] {5}

She looks in the mirror and stares at the wrinkles
That weren't there yesterday
And thinks of the young man that she almost married
What would he think if he saw her this way

There goes my baby
There goes my heart
They're gone for ever
So far apart

Never leave me alone
'Cause I die every time we're apart
#14) Presley, Elvis: "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" (1956) [1] {3}

  Tom note: One of my all-time favorite Elvis songs

Well, you're gonna want me, want me bad
You're gonna miss, the best man you ever had
Yes, you're gonna miss me, you're gonna want me
One of these days, oh don't you know
#15) Rinky-Dinks: "Early In The Morning" (1958) [24] {8}
