Gypsy's Caravan and Lehigh Valley also identified all 25 songs and both tie breaker songs. Most teams noted correctly that the seasonal theme was "Heart," commemo- rating Valentines Day. The minor theme, somewhat abstract, was that the quiz included two songs in tribute to two artists who had passed away within the past 30 days: Fontella Bass and Patti Page. John Fox also noted that two songs were written by Bacharach and David, which is also true. Subsequent to publishing the quiz, I (Tom) learned from the Academy Awards tribute that Hal David also passed away this past year, so I am glad we included him as well. Thanks to all of the entering teams for participating. Howard Teitelbaum has already posted GOLQ314. Don Robertson recorded the song but only partial credit was given because his version was instru- mental and did not contain the above lyrics. Sam Cooke recorded the song, but since he was featured in the top part of the quiz, he was not eligible as an artist. ============================================================================ The following table ranks the songs from most recognized to least recognized. The first column indicates the average number of points scored on that song (total points divided by number of entrants). We were surprised that more teams identified The Hearts' "Dear Abby" which peaked at #94 than identified Bobby Vinton's "My Heart Belongs To Only You" and The Supremes' "Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart," both of which peaked in the Top 10 at #9, "Melody Of Love," which peaked at #3, although that was way back in 1955. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom and Rick <golq313@Golq.org>
