RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #371(GOLQ371)

Pretty darn cold here in NE Ohio; I can't wait for "Summertime, Summertime"

Nine teams will be saying "Goody Goody" when they see that they have succeeded
in getting perfect scores. (And thats no "Liar, Liar"). There is no doubt that
the news will make them want to "Wiggle, Wiggle" with excitement and they
will holler "Yeh, Yeh". (Maybe "Ya Ya" or "Yea, Yea, depending on their
choice of artists).

I hope everyone found the quiz to be "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" and sweeter than
"Sugar, Sugar".

Every team determined the attribute to be a repeated word or syllable in
the title. The chosen attribute was intended to narrow the search
pattern and essentially be a holiday "gift" to all the GOLQers.

All of the songs except "Time, Time" can be heard on this YT playlist:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=H7jqyBq9hes&list=PLOM9kp_8Lqivxjc24U-gUlUl7O0hL-eW2
The usual Youtube caveats apply. I find it odd that Time, Time is not available
on YT and where it was once posted it has been removed. The song is 50 years
old; I don't have a very firm grasp of copyright and DRM restrictions, which
is why I don't personally post individual songs. Might have something to do
with the fact that Ed Ames is still alive, I dunno.

I want to wish every man and "Woman, Woman" out there in GOLQ land the best
of New Years.

Thanks to all who entered.

GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #371 ANSWERS:
Answers are in the form:

#number) Artist: "Title" (chart year) [peak Pop] {peak R&B} <xxx>...<yyy>

where:
"peak Pop" = Peak position achieved on the weekly Billboard Pop chart.
"peak R&B" = Peak position on the weekly Billboard Rhythm & Blues chart.
(Billboard didn't publish an R&B chart between 11/30/63 and 1/23/65,
so recordings in that interval show peak R&B of {n/c} ("no chart").)
"xxx",...,"yyy" = prior GOLQ(s) in which the song appeared, if any.

#02) Ames, Ed: "Time, Time (Tu As Beau Sourire)" (1967) [61] {-} <->

A tip of the Oldtunes hat to Randy Price and the Coasters who identified
the correct title but also noted the parenthetical "Tu As Beau Sourire".
Whitburn does not include it, but it is present on the 45.
Parentheses have proven to be the bane of my existence on this quiz; See #9.

#09) Freberg, Stan: "Wun'erful, Wun'erful! (Sides uh-one & uh-two)" (1957/58)
     [32] {-} <206>

A couple of players pointed out that I did not specifically exclude
parenthetical parts of the title in describing the theme. I'm doing
a bit of a side step here by saying that I described it as an
"attribute". (I was watching "Perry Mason" reruns last night which makes
    me almost a lawyer.)
It is also a bit complicated by the fact that although Whiburn gives the
title as listed above, none of the issued 45s are labeled that way. Instead
they individually show "side uh-one" and "side uh-two". Take a look at
http://www.45cat.com/record/f3815 to see the labels. Rather than get
hung up on minutiae, you got credit for identifying the song in any case.
This was intended to be the toughie, not because of the labeling
but because the singer is not the listed artist.
The snippet is from "side uh-two" and the singer is Peggy Taylor as
Champaign Lady "Alice Lean". (I believe Welk's real CL was "Alice Lon".

#13) Kingsmen, The: "Louie Louie" (1963/64,1966) [2,97] {n/c,-} <36><200><329>

Although it is a well known part of history for this record, it is
worth mentioning again - In 1964/1965 the FBI spent time and
resources to determine if this record is "pornographic". Seems
laughable in the context of some of todays "music". The FBI
was not able to reach a conclusion because the lyrics were
'not discernible at any speed'. All they had to do was ask ask
a high school boy; WE knew what the lyrics were (wink wink, nudge nudge).

Randy Price correctly points out that the 1966 re-issue 45 was titled
"Louie, Louie-64-65-66". Artist credit is 'The Kingsmen' and
   "Lead vocal by Jack Ely".

#25) Young-Holt Trio: "Wack Wack" (1966) [40] {12} <->

Drummer Redd Holt and bassist Eldee Young were
both former members of the Ramsey Lewis Trio. If
you listen closely to the song, parts of it
sound like the "Cool Jerk" melody. So much so
that there was a legal entanglement, but I do not
   know how it was resolved.

#T1) Bee Gees: "Tomorrow Tomorrow" (1969) [54] {-} <->

Okay, another slip up on my part. This song does not qualify
as a tie-breaker because it hit the top 100! I had it listed
as a bubbler in my data base. (I am beginning to question
my infallibility, although I am working on a way to alter the
time space continuum so that I can never be wrong).
This problem however did not seem to dissuade
very many folks from identifying it, but for any entrant who
did not have it I wrote back to them and confessed my sins. I
said I would give an extra few days to submit an answer for it.

The GOLQ pillory post is still warm from my previous
incarceration. Bring on the shackles, but please -
   no rotten fruit.

#T2) Fontana, Wayne: "Pamela, Pamela" (1967) [-] {-} <->

While not especially well known in the US, this
was a significant hit in Great Britain. The ratings
by "Record Retailer" (somewhat equivalent to "Billboard"
in the UK) would equate to '11' as highest position
reached. It was issued in the US on Vol. 7 of
Ace(UK) British Invasion series, although I am not
aware of an individual US 45. None-the-less, many
entrants were able to identify it.
