RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #380 (GOLQ380)

Congratulations to the Delphi Trivia Club and DEC and Friends, who tied for
first, each just missing a tie-breaker. Other teams who came close were Village
Idiots, EJ's & Co., Mike Weaver and Will McCorry. Mike was the only one to
identify #T1. Most teams had a good idea of the theme, which actually was quite
broad, essentially songs of 'unhappy' expression or situations. That meant a lot
of 'break-up' songs, but I stretched it to include songs I wanted to use
sometime that might not have another theme to fit into. The average score was
368.3.

Thanks to everyone who entered. GOLQ #381 has been posted.

GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #380 ANSWERS:
Answers are in the form:

#number) Artist: "Title" (chart year) [peak Pop] {peak R&B} <xxx>...<yyy>
where:
"peak Pop" = Peak position achieved on the weekly Billboard Pop chart.
"peak R&B" = Peak position on the weekly Billboard Rhythm & Blues chart.
(Billboard didn't publish an R&B chart between 11/30/63 and 1/23/65,
so recordings in that interval show peak R&B of {n/c} ("no chart").)
"xxx",...,"yyy" = prior GOLQ(s) in which the song appeared, if any.

Tie-Breakers
-------------

Spoken: "Gee Cathy, I don't want to hurt ya
Oh, I had a lot of fun with you last summer
I know I should have told you, but well I've got a steady girl
She went away for the summer, and well, maybe I was a little lonesome
But you'll find another guy
Look, it was only a summer romance and summer's over now"
Oh, you're so heartless and cruel
But, I'll always love you, like a fool
#T1) Carroll, Cathy: "Every Leaf That Falls" (1961) [-] {-}

QM: Boston was kind to Cathy Carroll, this song was #9 in December, 1961 on
WHIL, my then hometown Top 40 station. She also had minor success with "Jimmy
Love" earlier that summer.

My friends all tell me,
"She'll be back, she'll be back, she'll be back, wait and see."
Uh-huh, I'll be here waiting till eternity
I cry, yes I cry, while she's not mine
And just think, just think what she said to me
She told me she would always walk the line
It hurts, and I know it shows
#T2) Shannon, Del: "That's The Way Love Is" (1964) [128] {-}

TA: This record charted in the top 30 in Detroit in March, 1964 at the height of
the Beatles craze, but didn't do much anywhere else.
QM: The other artist from the comment for #15.
In the 70s, an artist named Guy Peellaert produced a book called Rock Dreams. It
was a collection of paintings of rock personalities of the 50s-60s and how he
imagined them in real life situations, with text added by Nik Cohn. Del was
portrayed as a just-returning soldier arriving at his girl friend's house, where
up in a window, her silhouette was in the arms of another man. The paintings are
worth checking out, especially if the text is included, many of them are on
various websites.
