RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #389 (GOLQ389)

Not letting any stumpers get by them, the Village Idiots, The EJ's & Co, and
Delphi Trivia Club identified all twenty seven songs (DTC omitting just a
portion of one title). So much for #T1 being a tie-breaker: EVERY team
identified it!

As always, thanks to everyone who entered. Rich Ardini has already posted
GOLQ 390.

GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #379 ANSWERS:
Answers are in the form:

#number) Artist: "Title" (chart year) [peak Pop] {peak R&B} <xxx>...<yyy>
where:
"peak Pop" = Peak position achieved on the weekly Billboard Pop chart.
"peak R&B" = Peak position on the weekly Billboard Rhythm & Blues chart.
(Billboard didn't publish an R&B chart between 11/30/63 and 1/23/65,
so recordings in that interval show peak R&B of {n/c} ("no chart").)
"xxx",...,"yyy" = prior GOLQ(s) in which the song appeared, if any.

You share my reverie
You're more than life to me

Note: Covered by Elvis as part of a medley on his 1968 TV "Comeback Special,"

#08) Day, Doris: "The Party's Over" (1956/57) [63] {-} <->

Note: Tribute to Doris, who died this month at age 97. The song comes from
the musical, "Bells Are Ringing." I first heard it on my Everly Brothers
1961/62 album, "Instant Party."

Oh, I am so blue
When I think that you
Were once my own
My heart, how it yearns
The flame still burns
But I'm alone
#09) Dion And The Belmonts: "A Lover's Prayer" (1959) [73] {-} <123>

Get your chin up off the floor
Mister, you can be a hero
You can open any door
There's nothing to it but to do it
#10) Fisher, Eddie: "Heart" (1955) [6] {-} <->

Note: Although Eddie Fisher was my intended artist, I inadvertently overlooked
that The Four Aces version, which peaked at 13, also qualifies. Full credit
was given to the teams that listed The Four Aces as the artist. Jessica
pointed out this song was originally from the 1955 musical, "Damn Yankees."

You better ask your mama
Tell her everything is alright

friend -- ha!)

Birds sing out of tune
And rain clouds hide the moon
#16) Peter & Gordon: "A World Without Love" (1964) [1] {-} <19><101><305>

He never drank water
He always drank wine

There's a future for me
#18) Pozo-Seco Singers, The: "I Can Make It With You" (1966) [32] {-} <137><324>

Note: My mistake. I included this song as a tribute to Don Williams, founding
member and subsequent C&W star, who I THOUGHT I read had died this month.
However, I recently learned he actually died in Sep 2017. Don't know where I
got my erroneous info, but I apologize for any frustration or inconvenience I
may have caused. In any case, RIP Don.

I said, the first day I met you
Someday, I'm gonna catch you
Now you're here, and baby I love it
So come on and give me some of it

the title and the medley

Oh my love, oh my love
I cry for you so much
Lonely nights without sleeping
While I long for your touch
#21) Seekers, The: "A World Of Our Own" (1965) [19] {-} <50>

Note: Delphi Trivia Club noted that, in April, The Seekers performed for the
last time with their original members, which could qualify this song as my
second tribute song. News to me, thanks to the DT Club!

Oh, well I met her at the station
She had her baggage in her hand
I said, "I love you pretty baby
I'll make you happy if I can"
#25) York, Rusty: "Sugaree" (1959) [77] {-} <98>

Tie-Breakers
-------------

A love that should have lasted years
#T1) Beatles, The: "For No One" (1966)

Note: From their "Revolver" album. Everyone identified this song.

You say you want to hold me
And stick to me like glue
Well, hearin's deceivin'
Seein's believin'
#T2) Presley, Elvis, with the Jordanaires: "Make Me Know It" (1960)

Note: Opening song from "Elvis Is Back" album, his first collection of new
songs after having been released from the service. Song is a personal favorite
that I think would have made for a great single--much better than "Stuck On
You," IMHO.
