RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #391 (GOLQ391)

Way back in GOLQ 367 I mentioned that I reserved the right to do
another quiz with minimal lyrics and gave an evil laugh. Well,
nobody said "No, No, a thousand times No"; but I was going to do
it anyway regardless. (Insert another evil laugh.)

I do hope everyone had fun with the quiz.

Five Teams rang the dingy-dong-ding perfection bell: Dec & Friends,
Delphi Trivia Club, The EJ's & Co., James White, and
Really Rockin' In Boston. Virve Harkonen missed only a tie-breaker.

In the past I have provided a Youtube playlist of the songs
in the quiz. I did not create one this time. Many of the
playlist songs were culled from a Youtuber who called
himself "Music Prof", who I happen to remember under
a different name back from my AOL oldies group days. His
site contained confirmed originals, highly documented and
scrupulously archived tunes, some dating back to the '20s.
At any rate, the scumbags at YT shut down the whole site
citing infringement complaints. They could have given him
time to remove the offending songs, but instead they simply
shut it down. (end of rant)

Also - to any of you that have been, or possibly will be
affected by "Dorian": You have my best wishes and hopes for
a good outcome.

Thanks to all who entered.

                GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #391 ANSWERS:
Answers are in the form:

    #number) Artist: "Title" (chart year) [peak Pop] {peak R&B} <xxx>...<yyy>

where:
    "peak Pop" = Peak position achieved on the weekly Billboard Pop chart.
    "peak R&B" = Peak position on the weekly Billboard Rhythm & Blues chart.
        (Billboard didn't publish an R&B chart between 11/30/63 and 1/23/65,
        so recordings in that interval show peak R&B of {n/c} ("no chart").)
    "xxx",...,"yyy" = prior GOLQ(s) in which the song appeared, if any.

#03)  Boone, Pat: "Tutti' Frutti" (1956) [12] {-}
    I hope the GOLQ deities will forgive me for using the Pat Boone version
    of this song.
    The exact title nomenclature seems to be a bit inconsistent. Note the
    apostrophe in the title. The Little Richard version has a dash. No
    idea why this is so, but I confirmed it on the record labels. Anyway
    it is a nit and I did not take points away for either way you wrote it.

#07) Diamonds, The: "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" (1956) [12] {-}
     I can feel those aforementioned deities increased wrath
     for using the pop version. They may come and repossess my
     music collection.

#08) English, Scott: "High On A Hill" (1964) [77] {n/c}
     Not a major hit nationally but did very well just down the
     road from me in Pittsburgh. The city seems to have had its
     share of local only hits perhaps due the number of eclectic DJ's
     there (e.g., Porky Chedwick).

#13) Jay & The Americans: "Let's Lock The Door (And Throw Away The Key)"
     (1964/65) [11] {n/c} <7><232>
     In 1994 I attended a concert featuring Jay Black, and when it came to this
     song he said he didn't like to do it because he felt silly singing
     "Dom Doobe Dom Doobe Dom Dom" at his age. He had his young son (who
     appeared to be about 10 years old or so) come out and perform the song!

#14) Little Anthony and The Imperials: "Tears On My Pillow" (1958) [4] {2}

#15) Little Joe & The Thrillers: "Peanuts" (1957/58) [22] {-} <21><118>
     Another version by Rick and The Keens (1961) exists, but
     I didn't think the intro was as "interesting" as this one. The
     The Four Seasons had a bubbler with this in 1963.

#16) Mann, Barry: "Who Put The Bomp (In The Bomp, Bomp, Bomp)" (1961)
     [7] {-} <10><104><208><271>
     The centerpiece of and inspiration for this quiz. One of only
     two top 100 songs (one just barely) performed by him in the
     GOLQ era, but he authored or co-authored a huge number of hits
     for other artists.

#17) Marcels, The: "Summertime" (1961) [78] {-}

#18) Marchan, Bobby: "There's Something On Your Mind (Part 2)" (1960)
     [13] {1} <92>
     Editorial Opinion: This scored near the bottom of the recognition
     rankings, but was fairly high in the BB rankings. I think this may
     due in part to the fact that the snippet comes at the end of the
     song rather than the beginning. When intros are played it kicks
     in our "internal Shazam" and makes identification easier. My
     opinions, by the way, are worth exactly what you pay for them.

#19) Peels, The: "Juanita Banana" (1966) [59] {-}
     Used as a 'break-in' for "Batman & His Grandmother" by Dickie Goodman.

#T1) Del Vikings, The: "I Hear Bells (Wedding Bells)" (1961) [-] {-}
     The 'single "L", no dash' version of the group name. Probably
     everyone is aware of the dueling groups of Dell-Vikings brought
     about by the fact that some of the members were minors when
     the original contract with Fee-Bee records was signed. This
     resulted with one group at Mercury records and one group at
     Fee-Bee. Mercury prevailed in a law suit that said the owned
     name "Dell-Vikings" regardless of how it was spelled. The
     Pittsburgh faction (Fee-Bee) became "The Versatiles". This
     particular record is on ABC-Paramount and I do not know who
     the members of the group on the record are.

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ391/GOLQ391-T2.mp3
#T2) Lymon, Frankie: "I Put The Bomp (In The Bomp Bomp Bomp)" (1961) [-] {-}
     A post-pubescent Frankie. I thought the voice might fool some folks,
     but the song was identified by most entrants (it's what I
     get for thinkin').
     Some may call this the 'answer song' to #16, but I look at it as
     re-work of the original. No difference in author names (Mann/Goffin)
     but lyrically just different enough to avoid a re-use conflict.
     Remember, I am already on thin ice with the GOLQ deities.

The following table ranks the songs from most recognized to least
recognized. The first column indicates the average number of points
scored on that song(total points divided by number of entrants).
For comparison purposes, tie-breakers are scored here on the usual
