RESULTS & ANSWER KEY for Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #439 (GOLQ439)

There was a five-way tie for first place. Congratulations to Barry Silk (first
to submit his entry), Tri-State Trivia, The EJs & Co., The Delphi Trivia Club
and the Village Idiots who tied for first place with perfect scores. Will
McCorry only missed a tie-breaker to finish sixth.
Apologies for the obscure and somewhat silly theme. The intent was the word ME
to be in all the lesser-known song titles (a clue was 'work with ME, Annie') as
well as in the title or lyrics of the better-known songs. It didn't stop teams
from their usual scores and two teams even identified the theme (Will McCorry,
RRIB).
The average score was 405.
Teams that submitted Puzzler answers are Delphi Trivia Club, Team Teitelbaum
and Will McCorry. The complete Puzzler solution is below. And thanks to Bob
Bluestein for continuing to provide these puzzlers.
Thanks to everyone who entered. GOLQ #440 has been posted.

GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #439 ANSWERS:
Answers are in the form:

#number) Artist: "Title" (chart year) [peak Pop] {peak R&B} <xxx>...<yyy>
where:
"peak Pop" = Peak position achieved on the weekly Billboard Pop chart.
"peak R&B" = Peak position on the weekly Billboard Rhythm & Blues chart.
(Billboard didn't publish an R&B chart between 11/30/63 and 1/23/65,
so recordings in that interval show peak R&B of {n/c} ("no chart").)
"xxx",...,"yyy" = prior GOLQ(s) in which the song appeared, if any.

Tie-Breakers

And when I told him I had been untrue
#T2) Crystals: "He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss)" (1962) [-] {-}
TT: Even by the standards of the early '60s, when domestic violence was
largely downplayed and ignored (short of homicide), this Goffin/King song was
roundly condemned, and was quickly withdrawn from airplay. It was inspired by
Little Eva, once the Goffins' babysitter, who used that title phrase to
rationalize being repeatedly beaten by her boyfriend. King, who is herself a
domestic violence survivor (not from Goffin, but a subsequent husband), has
expressed regret at creating the song.

"Beginning And End"

One-hit wonder Zager & Evans' single "In The Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)"
spent 6 weeks at #1 in '69

The rather optimistic description of the difficulty level of this Puzzler (as
spelled out by certain letters indicated in the instructions) is
"It's easier than learnin' your ABC's"

However, the "moving experience" whose difficulty level this statement
specifically describes is
                            The Loco-Motion

Sorry if this Puzzler was too difficult for you, but "my little baby sister can
do it with ease"!
