Welcome to GOLQ 215. I've been participating in these for several years
now, first as part of Gypsy's Caravan and now as part of The Coasters.
So I decided to try my hand at creating a GOLQ of my own.

It's fitting that I should be doing GOLQ215. Despite the proliferation
of new area codes in the Philadelphia area, 215 is still where my phone
is located. And since my first GOLQ was GOLQ108, GOLQ215 marks the
point at which there have now been more GOLQs since I began than before
I started to participate.

There is a very esoteric theme to this one that I don't expect anyone
to figure out. You may notice that some of the songs in this quiz share
writers. And that while I have adhered to the rule that no act may
appear more than once, some of the songs in this quiz have also been
recorded in charting versions by other acts who have an entry here in
addition to the one who is the correct answer.

These songs, including the tie-breakers, run the full range of the 1955-
1969 timespan, with at least one 1955 chart entry and at least one from
1969. There is, however, a 1960s emphasis due to my greater familiarity
with this decade. I don't feel as guilty as I did when I first realized
this because the very first quiz in which I participated, GOLQ108, had
NO entries before 1964!

Have fun, and have a great holiday season!

                       Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #215
               Recordings #01-25 were from 1955 through 1969
            Due 5:00 p.m. EST (GMT-5), Friday, December 31, 2004

You'll go down in history

She gives me everything
And tenderly
The kiss my lover brings
She brings to me

Each night we meet and talk about you
Reminisce about the things you used to do
We just sit around broken-hearted
Cause all of us are still in love with you

The other night as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you, held you in my arms
But when I woke up this morning
Found out I was mistaken

I held my nose
I closed my eyes
I took a drink

Won't you stay
We'll put on the day
And we'll wear it till the night comes

In this cold world
I struggle to survive
And sometimes I would fall
You'd think someone would lend a helping hand
They'd sooner see me crawl

Starting with the ABC of it
Right down to the XYZ of it

Bad times, I can't take 'em
Good times, got to make 'em
Got to find 'em
Got to taste 'em

Without your love
I'm just one of a million other guys

I've tried so not to give in
I've said to myself this affair never would go so well
But why should I try to resist
When darling I know so well?

One day I'm gonna take her home
Tell the world that she's my own

If the tom-tom in my heart
Sounded out a warning

Bah-da bah-da-da-da
Bah-da bah-da-da-da

Be mine tonight
Let this be just the start of so many nights like this
Let's take a lover's vow and then seal it with a kiss

I thought love was more or less a giving thing
Seemed the more I gave the less I got

Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin?

You have won all my money and my brand new Stetson hat

'Cause it's gone, gone, gone
And I can't go on

You've turned into the prettiest girl I've ever seen

Life can never be
Exactly like we want it to be
I can be satisfied
Knowing you love me

I shout it from the high, highest hill
Don't you know I even went out and I told the golden daffodil

If I lost you would I cry
Oh how I love you baby

Let go a laugh
Shook back his clothes all around

Woh woh woh woh woh woh woh woh woh woh
Woh woh woh woh woh woh woh woh woh woh

Make of our vows
One last vow
Only death will part us now

I don't worry about all the things I'm not
There's only one thing I want I ain't got
You know that I'm thinking about you baby
But you'd better know 'fore you come along
