GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #233 (GOLQ233)

Welcome to GOLQ 233. I began this quiz with a theme idea but had to add
some songs that don't fit the theme in order to cover certain time periods
and portions of the alphabet. These songs, including the tie-breakers, are
from the 1956-1969 timespan. I used only recordings that were in my
collection so that I wouldn't make the mistake of putting in lyrics I know
from a different rendition of a song that turn out not to be part of the
one I'm including in the quiz. I hope that none of the songs I chose were
represented in my collection as an album or alternate version from which I
chose lyrics that weren't part of the hit single.

Have fun!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's so strange
Never noticed the world all around me
Hey look I've changed
My attitude's been rearranged
#01)

There's a place for us
A time and place for us
Hold my hand and we're halfway there
Hold my hand and I'll take you there
#02)

So come on everybody get your baggies and bikinis
'Cause it's only just begun
We're gonna have a ball until the fall now
#03)

While at a dance
My baby by my side,
He whispers to me
Someday I'll be his bride
#04)

Everybody loves me, yes they do
And I love everybody
Since I fell in love with
Fell in love with
Fell in love with you
#05)

Falling in love is part of the fun
Falling in love is everyone
Stop being shy
Come on now, give it a try
Oh, my, my, my, my
#06)

Had no lovin' since you know when
You know I love you
Yes I do
And I'm saving all my lovin' just for you
#07)

I'm bettin' you're not losing
Sleep over me
But if I'm wrong
Don't fail to call
Come over and keep me company
#08)

No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind's true liberation
#09)

All alone I'm destined to be
With misery my only company
It may come today and it might come tomorrow
But it's for sure I ain't got nothing but sorrow
#10)

When somebody sneezed
It rolled off the table
And onto the floor
#11)

I read in a book
About love and its charms
But I, I never knew
Til I held you in my arms
#12)

The meat is on the stove
The bread's a-gettin' hot
Everybody running
Got the possum in the pot
#13)

It happens every day
No matter what you say
You find it happens all the time
#14)

'Cause he gets up in the morning
And he goes to work at nine
And he comes back home at 5:30
Gets the same train every time
#15)

And in the mornings I can see them walkin'
I can no longer keep my blinds drawn
And I can't keep myself from talkin'
#16)

Cheer up sleepy Jean
Oh what can it mean?
#17)

Ah, that girl of mine
By my side
The silver moon and the evening tide
Oh, some sweet day
Gonna take away this hurt inside
#18)

Deep in the dark your kiss will thrill me
Like days of old
Lighting the spark of love that fills me
With dreams untold
#19)

And when my man finally comes home
He makes me glad it happened that way
Because to be his woman
No price is too great to pay
#20)

And love is a stranger
Who beckoned you on
Don't think of the danger
Or the stranger is gone
#21)

I don't know what to do
Please my baby
I'm so lonely
Darling what am I gonna do?
#22)

If only you could see the dreams that seem to mean so much to me
Then you'd know the reason why
I would love to say "I do"
Than say "goodbye" and let you go forever
#23)

My life has been empty
My heart has been torn
It must have been rainy
The night I was born
#24)

Who took that look away?
I remember how you used to say
You'd never change, but that's not true
#25)

------------
Tie-Breakers
------------

And if you say the word
I could stay with you
#T1)

He likes it greasy
And sticky
And gooey
And salty
I said what do you like
He says you know what I like
#T2)
