Subject: Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz 277 (GOLQ277)

Welcome to GOLQ277! All 25 songs and the two tie breakers are linked
together with a theme. There are a number of "stumpers" that should be
easier to identify once the theme is determined. Because so many of you
get perfect 500++ scores on our quizzes, we decided to add additional tie
breaker points to spread out the winners. For anyone who gets a 500++
score, we will award one extra point if you identify the theme of the quiz.
Further, we will add an additional extra point each time you can identify
the key word (several songs have more than one option) that ties each song
to the theme. So, the highest score possible will be 528++. Identifying
key words is not mandatory, and omitting them will not affect your regular
score. They will only be credited if you earn a 500++ score on the regular
part of the quiz.

                       Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #277
               Recordings #01-25 were from 1955 through 1969

Took her on a date one Saturday night
We walked by the barber shop
I knew all the fellas were jealous alright
When their eyes began to pop
Key word:

An old eagle from Asia
Made a non-stop flight
Trying to make it in time
Just to see them fight
Key word:

Now my broken heart aches
With every wave that breaks
Key word:

And a black leather jacket
With an eagle on the back
Key word:

I'll bet my peanuts to a candy bar
You'll be cuter than a movie star
Key word:

Tried to flag a ride
Nobody seemed to know me
Everybody passed me by
Key word:

The sweetest blossom that you ever did see
Well, she can ramble all over the town
But I'm the cat who'll tame her down
Key word:

Kentucky sunshine makes the heart unfold
It warms the body and I know it touches the soul
Key word:

Everything is looking up
No one comes in, no one goes out
Nothing to get hung up about
Key word:

I'm tied to your apron strings
And there's nothing that I can do
Key word:

Raised in the woods so's he knew every tree
Key word:

Don't 'cha know that I'm lovin' you-ooh
Key word:

Girl, the name of the game is love
Key word:

Working for peanuts is all very fine
But I can show you a better time
Key word:

I'm waitin' for a woman that ain't got no man
Key word:

I signed my name and became a star
Having a ball with my guitar
Key word:

How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand
Key word:

To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say
Key word:

And they all play on the golf course
And drink their martini dry
And they all have pretty children
Key word:

Swinging down the street so fancy free
Nobody you meet could ever see the loneliness there inside you
Key word:

Seems like the other day
My baby went away
He went away 'cross the sea
Key word:

I've been where the eagle flies
Rode his wings 'cross autumn skies
Key word:

Everything just seems to be in bloom
There's something in the air that smells like sweet perfume
Key word:

A guy with a pin to burst your bubble
That's what you get for all your trouble
Key word:

And when I'm feeling down
Wearing a frown
You'll be there when I look around
Key word:

And it really doesn't matter
If I'm wrong, I'm right
Key word:

I'm falling through a hole in the flag
Key word:
