GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #311 (GOLQ311)

Oops, my original choice for song #18 was ineligible (used too recently),
so it has been replaced. Sorry for the mix-up!

Welcome to the December edition of the quiz. No intended themes, just good
tunes!

A minor rule change was recently adopted, regarding song re-use. The prior
rule mandated that a song could not be re-used for a 50-quiz period
(slightly over 4 years, assuming one quiz per month). The "time-out" is now
2 years. See the link below for more details; the change affects Rule 6.

                       Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz #311
               Recordings #01-25 were from 1955 through 1969
            Due 5:00 p.m. EST (GMT-5), Monday, December 31, 2012
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Somethin' told me that this wouldn't last
Now my heartache is in the past
I had to swallow all my pride
And admit to myself deep down inside
#01)

Travel on the midnight road
Ramble where the winds don't go
Be aware of hidden dangers
#02)

Known for meetin' brand new fellas
And takin' other folks' girl
#03)

"Why did you go away?"
The song is saying
#04)

A girl to hold in my arms
And know the magic of her charms
#05)

If I ever saw a girl that I needed in this world
You are the one for me (one for me)
Let me hold you in my arms, girl, and thrill you with my charms
I'm sure you will see (you will see)
#06)

There was a girl
There was a boy
If they had met
They might have found a world of joy
#07)

Come on Sally, come on Sue
All day long we're gonna boogaloo
But when the sweat begins to fill the air
#08)

That little chip of diamond on your hand
Ain't a fortune, babe
But you know it stands (for the love)
A love to try and bind us (such a love)
We just can't leave behind us
#09)

She found a mountain that was far too high
And when she found out she couldn't fly
It was too late
#10)

I've made up my mind, yeah
I'm tired of wasting all my precious time
You've got to be all mine, all mine
#11)

All through the caravan
She was dancing with all the men
Waiting for the rising sun
Everyone was having fun
#12)

Never thinking once about tomorrow
'Til tomorrow's been and gone and past
We'll pour the wine and fill the cup of joy and drink it
Drink as if it were the last
#13)

Walkin' through the park
It wasn't quite dark
There was a man sittin' on a bench
#14)

When the summer moon is on the rise
And you're dancin' under starlit skies
Please don't let the stars get in your eyes
#15)

I can't believe your love is just a burning memory
#16)

Then I'd be guilty
And you'd be too
They'd lock us up together
Just us two
#17)

Now, when your girl is gone and you're broke in two
#18)

Even though I know that you will hurt me again
I will love you as I did then
#19)

I fell for you
And I knew
The vision of your love-loveliness
#20)

Still searching for the special one
To whom I can give my love completely
And feel the lasting love so sweetly
#21)

Let me make your broken heart like new
#22)

You were dancing with me
But I saw you flirting with her
Were all the pretty words you whispered to me
Meant for her, meant for her?
#23)

I knew someday
That I'd hear you say
You love me, come what may
#24)

If your love is half as true
As the love I offer you
#25)

------------
Tie-Breakers
------------

I could be handy, mending a fuse
When your lights have gone
#T1)

You say you think I'm beautiful
You say you live for my touch
#T2)
