GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #385 (GOLQ385)

Welcome to GOLQ 385.

So here I am trying to come up with a theme for this month's quiz. My last
theme wasn't exactly spark-joy. Speaking of which, I was getting caught up in
that craze and I almost threw out an old Melanie album. What a loss that would
have been. But I digress.

There is a theme to this month's quiz. Since it's a short month, I'm trying to
keep it simple and more upbeat than my last quiz. The theme may be a little
broader than it seems at first. Enough hints. Like most themed quizzes, there
are both well-known and obscure songs.

Enjoy!
Rich

Due 5:00 PM EST (GMT-5) on Thursday, February 28, 2019
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Japan) Every woman's dedicated to man
(Mexico) They throw you kisses with the wave of a fan
(Honolulu) Writing lovey, dovey letters in the sand
#01)

You know it's up to you
I think it's only fair
#02)

My name is lonely
Tell that girl that I think of her only
I want to do it right
So help me light the light in her heart
#03)

My daddy before me told me
That his daddy before him told him
Never wait around
And never settle down
'Cause there are too many women
#04)

Love can pick you up (love can pick you up)
When you feel low-down (when you feel low-down)
Love can make you smile
When you're wearing a frown
#05)

He doesn't hang diamonds 'round my neck (no-oh-oh-oh)
And all he's got's an unemployment check
#06)

You just wait and see, wait and see
Take a good look around
And if you're looking down
#07)

One for tomorrow, one just for today
#08)

Music fills the starlet night
When I kiss and hold her tight
And one day, just the way we plan
She'll wear my wedding band
What a wonderful, wonderful feeling
#09)

And o-o-o-o-h, if she leave me
I figured I would di-i-i-i-i-i-i-e
And sometime, I call in the midnight hour
Yeah, yeah, aaaaaaaaaahh
Don't leave me, baby
#10)

The purpose of a man is to love a woman
And the purpose of a woman is to love a man
#11)

I met a girl so young and beautiful and very alone
And when I gazed into her eyes
I knew how much she wanted me
And her lips were just as soft as could be
#12)

Smile on your zing gang a zula
Moonshine above
On your sweet jungle love
For you, my bolo is swinging
For you, my love song I'm singing
#13)

Way, way down inside
I'm gonna give you my love
I'm gonna give you every inch of my love
Gonna give you my love
#14)

Funny how precious memories linger on
So long after you've gone
Oh precious memories, they only make me cry
But I keep holdin' on
#15)

Does she feel just what I feel
And how am I to know it's really real
Oh tell me where the answer lies
Is it in her kiss or in her eyes
#16)

So put your arms around me
Never let me (never let me)
Never never let me go
Every night, I hope and pray
Your sweet love will come my way
Now you're here, I felt your touch
#17)

I should tell you just how I feel
And I keep try-y-y-ing
But something holds me back
When I try to tell you
#18)

No one knows what happened that day
How his car overturned in flames
But as they pulled him from the twisted wreck
With his dying breath, they heard him say
#19)

You will never win 'we'
Your uniforms don't fit 'we'
We forget the place we're in
#20)

'Cause I got one million kisses
Two thrill you through, and I got
Three thousand hugs I'm saving
Four only you
#21)

Now of one thing, I'm more than sure
Since love come, I don't want more
Than to kiss him every night
Makes everything all right
We meet every night at eight
And I don't get home 'til late
#22)

We dated through high school
And when the big day came
I wrote into your book
Next to my name
#23)

Ooooh, oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo
Doo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, do-do, doo-doo-doo-doo, do-do-do
Doo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oooh
#24)

Tears from your little sister
Crying 'cause she doesn't have
A dress without a patch
For the party to go
Oh, but you know she'll get by
#25)

------------
Tie-Breakers
------------

Gave me a piece of good advice
Said it would do me well
I couldn't really tell until
I have been loving you
Now it seems
Things are not so strange
I can see more clearly
Suddenly, I've found my way
#T1)

Down through the years, we've had hard times and tears
But they only helped our love grow
And we'll stay together no matter how strong the wind blows
Not once have I seen your blue eyes filled with envy
Or stray from the one that you hold
#T2)
