GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #406 (GOLQ406)

Hello and welcome to oldies lovers world-wide. I hope everyone is able
to stay safe and cope with our ever-challenging environment.

This quiz is presented in a hybrid format. That is, some of the lyrics
are textual and a few are in the form of audio snippets.

There is the usual smattering of obscurities but songs 1 through 25 have
a theme. It will be easily spotted and may be of some benefit
in identifying the songs. Be aware however, that I may have taken
"artistic license" in a case or two of theme usage. The tie-breakers are
not included in the theme.

You may download either the individual mp3 files or a 2.9 MB ZIP file
containing all seven audio 7 sound clips at:

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ406/GOLQ406.zip

Have fun everybody.

Mike Weaver <GOLQ406@GOLQ.org>

And tell me when the beach umbrellas
Are no longer on the sand
When leaves fall on the tennis court
We'll still be hand in hand
#01)

What to do
Oh, I'm left here just crying
Over you, oh, I'm so blue
What can I do now
That you're gone
#02)

#03)

Will you remember
When summer has flown
Another world, a world
That is yours alone
#04)

Newborn whippoorwills
Were calling from the hills
Summer was coming in but fast
Lots of daffodils were
Showing off their skills
#05)

You kissed me, oh, so tenderly
And I knew this was love
And I as held you, oh, so close
I knew no one could ever
Take your place
#06)

Look around you, there's a rainbow
In that watermelon sky
And the twinkling of a million fireflies
Let your heart keep taking pictures
That we'll share as years go by
#07)

Hey, take a look at all those other cars
They're parked here just like ours
To count the stars above
It seems we're not alone
I guess I should have known
Romance runs high
The last two weeks in July
#08)

If I could hear no music
If there could be no roses
No summer nights to make
Me dream as I do

#11)

Listen to the music of the carousel
The ting-aling-alingle of the ice cream bell
The splishing and the splashing and a moonlight swim
The roarin' of the waves when you're surfin'
#12)

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ406/GOLQ406-13.mp3
#13)

Well no more studying his-tory
And no more reading geo-graphy
And no more dull geo-metry
#14)

She kissed me yesterday
hello the silver linin'
Got spring and summer
runnin' through me
#15)

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ406/GOLQ406-16.mp3
#16)

Golden sunshine
And we're glad
My little love and I
Now that summertime is nigh
#17)

I'll keep you warm in the winter
Give you cool, cool kisses in the summertime
Walk by your side in the autumn
And in the spring bells will chime
#18)

Does your memory stray
To a bright summer day
When I kissed you
And called you sweetheart
#19)

All summer long we spent dancin' in the sand
And the jukebox kept on playin'
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
#20)

#21)

http://golq.org/Clips/GOLQ406/GOLQ406-22.mp3
#22)

Come and see how well despair
is seasoned by the stifling air,
See your ghetto in the good old sizzling summertime
#23)

I tried so hard
All summer through
Not to think too much of you
But the more I try
The more I find
I just can't leave the past behind
#24)

Let's Twist again,
Like we did last summer, baby
And she say
#25)

------------
Tie-Breakers
------------

He played night and day like a demon
And prayed for that one lucky day
When the lush
Royal flush of his dreamin'
Is just a game away
#T1)

When it comes to lovin' she's a natural master
And each time she's near, well my heart beats faster
Deep down inside I know the best is yet to come
whoa, whoa, whoa
Gonna pick her up about a quarter to seven
I know we're gonna take a little trip to heaven
#T2)
