GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #425 (GOLQ425)

Hello and welcome oldies lovers world-wide.

I have been away from my GOLQ duties for a while, but
I'm back with this edition of the quiz.

This one is on the more difficult side, but every time
I say that the abilities of the folks within this
group astound me.

To try to placate the masses there are two major
thematic relationships consisting of about 10 songs
each. Be aware that one set of lyrics may satisfy
both themes. You will most likely hit on the themes
quickly. The tie-breakers are pretty obscure so I decided
to present them as audio segments.

Have fun everybody!

For the first time, yes the first time
I can thrill
For the first time I love you
And always will
#01)

They furnished off an apartment with a two room Roebuck sale
The coolerator was crammed with TV dinners and ginger ale
#02)

She wore a brand new jersey
She wore a brand new jersey
She wore a brand new jersey
That's what she did wear
#03)

She says he causes trouble
When you let him in the room
He will never ever leave you
If your heart is filled with gloom
#04)

Suddenly the sun broke though
(See the sun)
I turned around she was gone
(Where did she go)
And all I had left was one little flower in my hair
#05)

And-a Khrushchev squealin'
You talk too much
And there was Brenda Lee
Runnin' track for State
#06)

Everybody's hustlin'
Just to have a little scene
When I say we'll be cool
I think that you know what I mean
#07)

Kentucky sunshine makes the heart unfold
It warms a body and I know it touches the soul
Bluegrass is fine Kentucky owns my mind
#08)

The way that woman walk
She set my little soul on fire
The way she talk
She my heart desire
#09)

Why do you do that
Why do you burst out like that
Irritates me
That irritates me
That irritates me
That's all
#10)

Muskrat hides hangin' by the dozen,
Even got a little bitty muskrat cousin
Got 'em out dryin' in the hot hot sun,
Tomorrow papa's gone turn 'em into money
#11)

Hear what I tell you
I'm the gal for you and so
You'd better start to face it
If you ever lose my love
You know you never can replace it
#12)

I've got a lot of friends down in New Orleans
Working on the docks, loadin' coffee beans
Hard working people who will lend you a hand
They'll help you anyway they can
#13)

Felt so grand
When she took my hand
And said come go with me
Held me tight on a moonlit night
#14)

Save me, save me, save me from this squeeze
I got a big fat mama trying to break me
And I love to live so pleasantly
Live this life of luxury
#15)

I'll be the Count of Monte Cristo
You'll be the Countess May
#16)

But if I have to walk,
I'm gonna fly there just the same
#17)

Whether the weather be rain or snow
Pretending can make it real
A snowy pasture a green and grassy field
#18)

Lots of red and blue
The music gets to you
And swept right off your feet
You can't escape that beat
#19)

My clothes may still be torn and tattered
But in my heart I'd be a king
Your love is all that ever mattered
You're everything
#20)

Baby I've read your letter five times
And I'm writing back to tell you that you're all wrong about me
The other day in school when you passed me in the hall
The reason I didn't come up to you and say hello
Was because I was too embarrassed to let you see me crying
#21)

Lonely, lonely hours without that
Man I held so tight
Lord I pray that you will listen to my plea
Help him to forgive so he'll come back to me
And call me
#22)

Did you ever see a night so long
When time goes crawlin' by
The moon just went behind a cloud
#23)

Tell her how I feel
It shouldn't end this way
Since you are all her friends
She'll listen to what you have to say
#24)

They told me I was such a fool to love you
They say that you're the kind who'd never be true
Pretty soon the day would come
When I'd be the sorry one
But I said that I'm not afraid
