GOLDEN OLDIES LYRICS QUIZ #435 (GOLQ435)

Hello and welcome to oldies lovers world-wide.

Due to time constraints and perhaps a slight tendency towards laziness, I
recycled a previously used selection process based on random number assignment
to a spreadsheet of GOLQ eligible songs. So no theme except maybe "entropy".
Results were only massaged to discard ineligable songs and songs without
usable lyrics. The design was to produce 20 "top 40" tunes and 5 that fall
into the chart "elsewhere".

The tie-breakers were "hand-picked" and are related to something I need to
see soon.

Have fun everybody.

                        Golden Oldies Lyrics Quiz
                Recordings #01-25 were from 1955 through 1969
Due 5:00 PM EDT (GMT-4) on Sunday, April 30, 2023.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Twelve o'clock, twelve o'clock
Was what we bargained for
What are we gonna tell
Your mom and dad
When we're at your front door
01)

I met my first love at thirteen
She was brown and I was pretty green
And I learned quite a lot
02)

Ahhh come on, come on yeah
Come on, come on
And please me, baby (Yeee, yeah)
Come on and tease me, baby (yay, yay yayah)
Come on and drive me crazy (com'on, com'on com'on)
03)

About twelve o'clock
Everything get hot
Up steps old John
We started clapping
And he started singing
This sweet little country song
04)

When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near, to kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind
Standing in your heart is where I want to be
05)

Don't ever let me down
You're my pretty little lady
Feel like I'm wearing a crown
Don't ever leave me, don't ever go
06)

But now, since you're gone
I'm so sad and alone
Remembering the love
That we had for our own
07)

Look down my rain-barrel
Slide down my cellar door
And we'll be jolly friends forever m-o-o-o-re
She couldn't come out and play
It was a sunny day
08)

I ain't no psychiatrist
I ain't no doctor with degrees
But it don't take too much high IQ
To see what you're doing to me
09)

I know you're walking down a lonesome road
And your heart is carrying a heavy load
I know you feel like you ain't got a friend (ain't got a friend)
Oh, and your whole world's caving in (Whole world, caving in)
10)

With a dollars worth of beans
A new pair of jeans
Got a woman to cook and wash
...and things
11)

Oh, but your lips were thrilling
Much too thrilling
Never before were mine
So strangely willing
12)

I'll have your second fiddle
Returned to you today
'Cause baby, that's one instrument
I never learned to play
13)

If you love her then you must send her
Somewhere where she's never been before
Worn out phrases and longin' gazes
Won't get you where you want to go
14)

You know that's against the rules
Now you will see (oooh yeah) just how I felt
Better believe it baby
You beat me to the punch honey
But you hit me below the belt
15)

Stop the game (stop the game)
you've got too much to lose (too much to lose)
If you stop me again
That's when we might end
So please don't refuse
16)

My heart cries out more baby
I love you so much
I wish that there was more of you to touch
17)

When he says to me
Baby I Love you
I just know
Every word is true
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
He's the boy that I love
And I told him I do
18)

We had a love, a love,
A love you don't find every day
So don't, don't, don't
Don't let it slip away
19)

Why don't they take the time to understand
She's looking for a love she's never found?
And it's only 'cause she's lonely
20)

(Seeking truth and justice)
I'm just roaming around
(Seeking truth and justice)
And I'll never get home again
21)

Lightning flashed across the sky
The night he taught me how to fly
The sun came up and then I found
Too soon he let his lady down
22)

I'd give up a palace if I were a king
It's more than a palace, it's my everything
There's a queen waiting there with a silvery crown
23)

Now that you've gone
I'd be a fool to go on and on
Who'd care, no one would cry
If I should live or die
24)

And all your promises (Baby, baby)
Of a love forever more (Baby, baby, ooh, baby, baby)
25)

From San Francisco to Philly PA
The kids from Baltimore and Washington
Have lots of fun in the summer sun
So until school starts in the fall
Vacation's here and we're having a ball
T1)

All the while you're gone
I'll be remembering
Every little thing
We used to do
Each and every dream
My Heart will try to bring
Back a little memory of you
T2)
